REFORMATORY

This project was created for a university assignment centered on building a fictional, conceptual narrative. The idea came to me during a period when I was living in a convent, sharing a roof with twenty five other students, two of whom, in particular, inspired the whole concept. They were the spark behind the title "Reform School," as both loved joking around and making the most of student life despite our tight budgets, and had a habit of pulling pranks in the nuns' kitchen.
From that, I invented a story in which the two of them are confined to a reform school, sentenced to a routine of hard, dirty labor. Over time, tension boils over into a fight. One is left with a black eye, the other missing a tooth. In the aftermath, they quietly wash the evidence of the brawl from their faces, hide their wounds, and sit down to write a letter home to their mother, full of quiet longing and apology.
