This small series, inspired by Hellen van Meene, portrays a group of friends, girls in their early twenties, still young, uncertain of their future or even of what they'll eat for dinner tomorrow. In developing this concept, I found myself twisting the idea further: that every decade of our lives arrives with the same great question, what is this feeling, what is this new thing? Much like van Meene's own exploration of that in between state, I set out to photograph the whirl of thought running through girls in their student years, caught between learning to be young, to be mature, and to be responsible women, all at once.
